All you need is a container, water, a grow light and organic liquid nutrients. One of the best vegetable grow lights that we’ve come across has been the SF600 from Spider Farmer. Having a good grow light is essential for a successful indoor garden.
HERE’S HOW:
Prepare Seeds: Begin by germinating your seeds, preferably fast growing crops like lettuce, bok choy, arugula, radish and or spinach. Place the seeds directly into your growing medium. If using rockwool cubes, ensure they are pre-soaked and moist.
Set up Kratky System: Fill the Storage tote bin with water and add the appropriate amount of nutrient solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A Kratky System does not require any air pump or refilling, it’s meant for vegetables that grow at a fast rate and harvested right away.
Planting Seeds: Once your seeds have germinated and developed small roots (usually within 4-7 days), transplant them into your Kratky system’s net pots filled with Leca Clay Pebbles. Make sure that the roots are submerged in the nutrient solution while keeping the top part of the plant above water.
Provide Light: If you are growing indoors, we like to use LED grow lights. Provide at least 14-16 hours of light per day for optimal growth. If you prefer natural lighting, place your container near a window with at least 6-8 hours of sunlight.
Harvest and Plant Again: 1 week before you harvest, start planting more seeds for continuous growth. By harvest time, seedlings should be ready to be transplanted. Rinse the bins and start again.
